05/17/09 - Bootcamp Workout, Bears vs Lions!

Today's workout was just awesome!

We had some new people drop in for this workout!

Hi to Beau, Annali, Ronnie, Paul, Jodi, and Jen!!!

Here was this morning's workout:

  • Joint mobility warmup
  • Dynamic muscle warmup

Med ball relay races: (10# med ball)

2 teams: LIONS vs BEARS!!

Race #1: from starting line, toss med ball as far as you can, sprint to ball, jump over ball, throw back to next person in line.

Race #2: Same as #1 but squat with med ball then toss.

Race #3: 2 rounds. 3 stations:

  • Station #1: two players back to back, pass the med ball in a circle 5 times then pass to station #2
  • Station #2: Two players facing each other, pass the ball back and forth while moving sideways for 20' until you reach station #3
  • Station #3: 1 player, do 5 overhead squats with the med ball, pass it back to station #2 players, station 32 players now toss the ball back and forth until they reach station #1 again.
  • End of round 1, repeat.

At the end it was tied between LIONs and BEARS! So we used the WOD as a tie breaker:

WOD:

Mini Cindy:

AMRAP in 10 mins of

  • 5 pushups
  • 10 air squats
  • 15 jumping jacks

Word on the street was that the jumping jacks were the hard part. What do you think was the hardest?

Everyone was having such a great time during the workout they forgot thier rounds completed, so the teams will stay tied :-)

Post rounds completed in the comments section!

Awesome job everyone!

REMINDER: No class next weekend! I will be out in Albany at the Crossfit Northeast Qualifier Volunteering: http://www.albanycrossfit.com/my_weblog/northeast-qualifier.html

Mountain Strength and Woodshed Fitness forming a Limited Bootcamp session!

Special Announcement:

Happy Marathon Monday!

While we sit at our keyboards (or heck, on our couches hoping for a Red Sox sweep today), someone else--a great # of someone-elses, in fact, is pounding the pavement towards Copley Square.

Why not us?  That laurel wreath and its attendant runners' high shouldn't remain the sole province of those who spend six months out of every nine training at high altitudes and low speed.  After all, we've heard it said that we are the change we've been waiting for...

In that spirit, Mountain Strength Fitness is super psyched to announce that we'll be teaming with our good friend and fellow Crossfit Level 1 Certified Trainer Justin Keane at Woodshed Fitness to teach a six-week Sunday Spring Bootcamp class, beginning on Sunday, May 3 at 8:30 AM at Jamaica Pond in beautiful Jamaica Plain.

We're opening registration today and plan on capping the class at 20-25 slots.

Cost will be $60 for the entire program and payable in full before your first session (see The Below):6 hour-long classes; $60 in total.

To secure your space, please email me with the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone #
  • Email
  • What you've been doing fitness-wise over the last 3 months
  • Any physical or medical issues we should be aware of
  • Particular areas where you'd like to see improvement
  • Favorite outdoor activites

The more detailed your answers, the better Justin and I will be able to program a class that meets everyone's needs and wishes.

****Please note: the class will not meet Memorial Day weekend.  May 3, 10, 17, 31, June 7, and June 14 will be the Sundays that class will be in session.  And then...we'll send you off to your respective summers! Feeling good and looking good!

We look forward to hearing from you.
